Futureproofing Single Use in Bioprocessing

The presentation explores how Single Use Technology (SUT) in bioprocessing was both a solution and a challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the need for supply chain resilience and introduces the concept of interchangeability—using pre-qualified alternative components to mitigate supply disruptions. The BioPhorum initiative aims to standardise definitions and criteria for interchangeability. WMArchitect has launched a service applying these principles, enabling proactive component substitution and streamlined change management. The approach supports regulatory confidence and futureproofs bioprocessing operations.
